Jesus said in Matthew 4:4, “It is written: ‘Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.” Just like we need to eat food and drink water to nourish, cleanse and protect our physical bodies, so also we need to eat “Spiritual Food” (God’s Word) and drink from the Living Water (Holy Spirit) to nourish, cleanse, and protect our spiritual life. In this section of the website you will find morsels of truth from the God’s Word, the Bible, that if taken in and made a part of you, will feed your inmost being and strengthen you to walk on the heights.
Are You Really Alive?
Birthdays are a way of marking the passage of time and an opportunity to celebrate the life we’ve been given. Did you know that even though you are alive physically, you may be dead in the spiritual sense? If you have never accepted the gift of eternal life offered from God, the Father, through Jesus Christ, then even though you are alive physically, you are dead because of your sins. Unless otherwise indicated, the Scriptures below are taken from the New International Version of the Bible.
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.”
“Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. The Lord, the Lord, is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation.”
Psalm 118:8 (The middle verse of the Bible)
“It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in man.”
“Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.”
“Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous fall.
“When I am afraid, I will trust in you. In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I will not be afraid…”
“For this God is our God for ever and ever; he will be our guide even to the end.”
“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.”
Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I lift up my soul.
He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.
“You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in you. Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord, the Lord is the Rock eternal.”
1 Corinthians 1:25
“For the foolishness of God is wiser than man’s wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than man’s strength.”
“Better is one day in your courts
than a thousand elsewhere;
I would rather be a doorkeeper in the
house of my God
than dwell in the tents of the wicked.
For the Lord God is a sun and shield;
the Lord bestows favor and honor;
no good thing does he withhold
from those whose walk is blameless.
O Lord Almighty,
blessed is the man who trusts in you.”
Psalm 105: 1-4
Give thanks to the Lord, call on His name;
Make known among the nations what He has done.
Sing to Him, sing praise to Him;tell of all His wonderful acts.
Glory in His holy name;
let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice.
Look to the Lord and His strength;
Seek His face always.
Find rest, O my soul, in God alone; my hope comes from Him. He alone is my rock and my salvation; He is my fortress, I will not be shaken. My salvation and my honor depend on God; He is my mighty rock, my refuge. Trust in Him at all times, O people; pour out your hearts to Him, for God is our refuge.
Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him. Fear the LORD, you His saints, for those who fear Him lack nothing. The lions may grow weak and hungry, but those who seek the LORD lack no good thing.
